There is potential there, but I don't get the "rolling pile of junk" look.

Patina is an aged, yet mostly intact finish, not a destroyed, and thus lack of finish, and outright decay.

I don't get why people go gaga over a maximum level of entropy up to the threshold of function breaking down.

Or a truck that can't even climb a speed bump, for that matter.

It's not lowered, the strut tower mounts rusted out.

There's definitely functional problems with it, but from an aesthetic view, I like it. If it were done properly (and I have no idea if this truck was or not), the patina would be skin deep, and from a structural point of view, the truck would be solid. It'd also be sitting on airbag suspension, so it could be raised to a more appropriate ride height.

Not my picture, so I don't know.

I'm not a patina fan, but I do want to build a truck like that as my motorcycle rig. It would be amazing with build in pull out ramps and front wheel locks built into the bed so I can just ride them up and into the catches.

You know your trucks too low when your license plate has to be angled out at 45 degrees for ground clearance. This makes me want a motorcycle even more.

I guess I thought the idea of 'patina' is that it isn't 'done' much of anything with... except perhaps drivetrain, brakes, etc, to make it road-ready.

If the patina is faux, and created, then it is even worse, IMHO.

And any truck that rusted on the surface, is likely not all that solid underneath, without a complete chassis restoration.

I could see using an original-style semi-gloss, or de-glossed one-stage paint, to make it look as close to original as possible.

I fully admit it is just my preference and opinion, but I don't get or appreciate the aesthetic of "I need a tetanus booster for just looking at this thing..." as much as some others do.

If you like it, that is fine.

And it probably is bagged, and likely channeled, to be able to ride that low, and obviously the wheels are blacked-out to disappear.
